German White Garlic Seed 5 pounds

German White Garlic is a hardneck porcelain variety garlic which is grown from our own seed stock for the last 3 years!  No risk of nematodes!  German White Garlic has a strong slightly spicy garlic flavor when raw but beautifully sweet when roasted.

A very nice strain for our northern climates. Great for roasting due to large cloves. 4 - 6 large cloves per head.  Easy peeling.  Big tall plants and hardy for our northern winters. The Hardneck garlic produces a "scape" flower stalk, pick it after it curls and enjoy roasted and raw. The cloves are generally much larger and easier to peel. Garlics of this type have more complex and interesting flavors. Hardneck garlic is most closely related to wild garlic. Flowers (scapes), if they are produced, usually form "bulbils" when left on the garlic until you pull.  You can also eat these small "bulbils" they are tiny and taste like mini little garlics.  But we enjoy the scapes much much more than the bulbils.  But we tend to miss a few scapes every year and get to enjoy a few "bulbils" also.  We call the "bulbils" garlic nuts!
